How to Test Sound Insulation for Your Home or Office<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do you live or work in an area where there\u2019s a lot of noise pollution? It might seem like a small problem, but it could affect your quality of life. In this article, we\u2019ll show you how to conduct a simple sound insulation test<\/a> to see if your home or office has any problems.<\/p>\n

Start by measuring the room where you plan to install the insulation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

You\u2019ll need to measure the width and length of the room, as well as its height. Then, take note of the number of windows and doors in the room. Next, use a tape measure to measure the distance between each wall and window or door as well as measuring the width of the current walls and\/or floors. Finally, count the number of walls in the room.<\/p>\n

Measure the thickness of the walls, ceiling, floor, and any other surfaces that will be covered with insulation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Once you have the measurements, you\u2019ll need to determine what type of acoustic upgrade<\/a> you will need to install. There are two main types of acoustic upgrades, an independent lining and\/or a resilient bar system. The wo types use an acoustic insulation which can be of varying density. In many cases an RW45 acoustic wool is a good choice, this has a density of 45kg\/m2 and is made up of small pieces of fiberglass and other materials.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll also need to decide whether you want to insulate only one side of the wall or both sides. If you choose to insulate just one side, you\u2019ll want to make sure that that the existing wall has enough mass to allow for this. If lightweight blockwork has been used in the wall construction, it may be best to apply the acoustic solution to both sides of the wall \u2013 this will offer more mass<\/a>, isolation and absorption to the overall construction and reduce the amount of noise transference through the wall.<\/p>\n
